Unity Insurance Services?
We are a wholly owned subsidiary of The Scout Association. Known as Scout Insurance Services Limited, and previously the Insurance Department, Unity Insurance Services is our trading name. We exist to provide our services to The Scout Association, and other organisations within the youth and voluntary charity sector.
Whose products do we offer?
We arrange and administer a number of specialist insurance contracts designed for groups or clubs working in the youth sector. We select a single insurer, according to the type of insurance product required, and tailor the insurance to the needs of our market. We are not contractually bound to offer cover in this way, and if our analysis of a client’s needs lead us to believe that they have special or particular requirements, we will endeavour to find a more specific product, from any market. You may request details of all the insurers we place business with before proceeding.
Which service will we provide you with?
We will provide you with a statement which sets out what we believe to be your demands and needs, what we recommend to you and our reasons for making that recommendation.
What will you have to pay us for our services?
We will not charge you a fee for our services in advising on, arranging or renewing an insurance policy. However we may charge an administration fee to cover our costs in certain circumstances e.g. If we have to return a dishonoured cheque to you.
What to do if you have a complaint?
If you are dissatisfied with the service provided by us, you should make a complaint, in writing, to the Insurance Manager at this address. We will investigate your complaint and will respond to you. If you are still dissatisfied, you may be entitled to ask for your complaint to be considered by the Financial Ombudsman Service. In addition, all of the insurers that we use have a published complaints procedure and this will be provided to you with the policy information.
Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.
Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit.
